Location of New Helic City

While randomly Googling yesterday, I came across something interesting, namely this map of Planet Zi:

The interesting thing is the location of New Helic City.

Why is this interesting? Well, to explain that, there's a number of things that first have to be mentioned about the backstory on Planet Zi.

In the Battle Story timeline, there's a war that rages between the Republic and the Empire, however, this all happens on the Central Continent. If you want to read the story, I've got it on a previous blog: User blog:Sylvanelite/The Zoids File

That blog was based on the battle story that came from the manga, which came with an alternative map of Planet Zi, which looks like this:

On that map, it clearly states "Helic Republic Capital City", which I always assumed was New Helic City (mentioned as being the capital in Chaotic Century). This, however, is at odds with the events of Chaotic Century. In Chaotic Century, you briefly see the entire path of the series plotted onto a map:

This map, however, only corresponds to the Western Continent Europa.

For a long time, I thought this was a plot hole, or at least a major discrepancy between CC and Battle Story. How could the map label the Helic capital being on a continent that they never visit?

The answer comes from careful reading of Battle Story. The Helic Republic events only happen on the central continent during the pre-apocalypse wars (i.e. long before the start of CC). If this is then destroyed by either the comet that shatters the moon, or the Battle Story Death Saurer, then they could establish New Helic City on the Western Continent, and pick up from there.

If the location on this map is correct, it puts CC/GF's location much more precisely in tune with the events of Battle Story. It's not perfect, since Red River's location is still different (that has to be on the central continent according to the Battle Story events). While the characters are quite substantially different from Battle Story to CC/GF, it still would explain a lot.

The reason I haven't updated this into the Planet Zi article, is that I haven't found a citation for the image coming from Google. Google links it back to an old site which is certainly not official. The only other site I could find was this one in Japanese, which again, I can't vouch for. So while it would be cool if this is official, until there's a source backing it up, I'm just going to leave it here in a blog to mention how nicely it would resolve some of the apparent location inconsistencies between the anime and battle story.
