A step in the right direction
Making progress. Slowly. For Genoblade 2.0 I'm starting with a fresh model (ok, fresh import, same model courtesy DGMM on the Google warehouse), this time in the newer version of Blender (looking back I don't know how anyone ever used 2.49), since the old model had some issues after importing; I couldn't move or edit any of the pieces without them glitching and bad things happening. The problem turned out to be trying to import the SketchUp groups, after removing them everything is working great.
I also had to clean up the rather messy import and consolidate ~1000 objects into useful pieces, shaving 170,000 vertices off in the process (that's a lot).
With that out of the way, I want to now redo all of the pieces I modeled into higher-quality versions, and hopefully come out the other end with something cool! All of this also means that with any luck at all the new Genoblade should be fully poseable :D
Here's a quick render, all ready for the next step!
