The Grounchar (グランチャー) (EZ-051) is an Echdina-type of Zoid, a race of mechanical lifeforms from the fictional Zoids universe.

Battle Story Appearances[]

This section is about the events in Battle Story, which is primarily in Japanese. Information in this section may require additional citations.

An Echidna-type Zoid developed by the Eisen Dragoons for electronic warfare. This was the first Zoid that was explicitly developed to be used while underground. The plan was to lure enemy forces into an area laden with subterrain Grounchars, where they would activate their jamming systems and incapacitate enemy Zoids. It could also be used directly in combat, for instance, by attacking a Gojulas Giga from below to damage its legs. This technology was later used by the Dark Spiner.

Models[]

The Zoid's back-mounted laser swords can be mounted onto the Berserk Fury, which can be used in conjunction with parts from the Zoid, Diloforce.

Zoids (1999)[]

The Grounchar was first released as part of the Zoids (1999) line.

The Grounchar comes on seven frames[citation needed] (one of which is shared with the Demantis, Megaleon, Maccurtis, and Glaive Quama). The Grounchar is molded in grey and black, and comes with a red frame.

The Zoid has no motor, but can be manually posed. As with other Zoids of it's type, the Grounchar comes with a extra mini-figure, and a name plate.

Zoids: Build Customize[]

The Grounchar was released as part of the Zoids: Build Customize line, under the same name. The only changes were to its packaging. The USA version was Hasbro branded[2], while the international version was TOMY branded[3].
