Dromaeosauridae is a family of bird-like theropod dinosaurs. They were small to medium-sized, feathered carnivores that flourished in the Cretaceous Period. Many Dromaeosaurs (notably the most famous Utahraptor, Deinonychus, and, most of all, Velociraptor) were bipedal, feathered carnivores with long, stiffened tails and an enlarged sickle-shaped claw on each hindfoot.
Velociraptor (commonly shortened to 'raptor') is one of the dinosaur genera most familiar to the general public due to its prominent role in the Jurassic Park motion picture series, although in the films it was shown as having a number of anatomical inaccuracies. This has made the raptor family well known and well loved, prompting many zoid models during the New Japanese Release and afterwards.
Raptor zoids are usually small to medium sized zoids. They are almost universally quick and agile and often favor a few specialized weapons over a large arsenal, though there are some exceptions. Raptor zoids are often surprisingly powerful for their size and armament and are generally easy to mass produce and thusly have many a time been used as standard infantry in battle.
