The Boldguard (ボルドガルド) is a Panoplosaurus-type of Zoid, a race of biomechanical lifeforms from the fictional Zoids universe. One of over 200 species of biomechanical life forms that provide the basis for TOMY’s model kit, anime, and comic based Zoids franchise.

Overview[]

The Boldguard's most recognizable appearance was in the Zoids: Fuzors Anime, where Sigma of Mach storm piloted the Zoid for the early episodes of the series. Despite its small size, it has considerable firepower when using its four high speed cannons; able to wipe out enemies in a couple of shots.

Media Appearances[]

Zoids Fuzors[]

Boldguard was piloted by Sigma in the first few episodes of Zoids: Fuzors. Although a moderately effective Zoid, the Boldguard relies mostly on its guns in battle. The Zoid had low maneuverability and was easily outclassed by most Fuzors in the series. The Boldguard is often left incapacitated by being flipped on its back or simply running out of ammo. Sigma uses the Boldguard until episode 7, where it is destroyed by a stealth Zaber Fang. In the next episode, Sigma replaces the Boldguard with a Leostriker and pilots this for the rest of the series.

Video Games[]

Boldguard appear in Zoids Saga DS: Legend of Arcadia.

Trading Cards[]

The Boldguard was featured as part of the Zoids Scramble release of Zoids Trading Cards.

Models[]

Blox[]

The Boldguard was first released as a part of the Blox line. It was colored tan, gray, silver and black and had an orange canopy.

An upgrade kit was released for the zoid, known as the Limited Blox Parts Set Set C. This kit included the parts for the Boldguard's feet and guns, but was recolored translucent grey.

Z-Builders[]

The Boldguard was also released as a part of Hasbro's Z-Builders line in America[citation needed]. It was mostly identical to the Blox version, except the packaging. An international version was released with TOMY branding.

Fuzors[]

The Zoid was also released as a part of the Fuzors anime line. It came with a new sticker sheet to reflect its Mach Storm allegiance.
